The science behind avoiding non-veg and alcohol in Sawan month.

HOLY MONTH

One of the holiest months according to Hindus is that of Sawan or Shrawan.

This month is dedicated to Lord Shiva and lots of devotees fast every Monday.

SATVIK FOOD

Most people follow the Satvik diet during this month and avoid non-veg and alcohol in their diet.

But, there’s also science behind it.

MONTH OF LOVE

Sawan is known as the month of love as the monsoon provides favorable conditions for the breeding of aquatic creatures like- fish.

As, a gesture of respect, it is considered inappropriate to kill or harm those living creatures who are pregnant or laying eggs.

DIGESTIVE SYSTEM

Since it’s the season of heavy rains, we get less vitamin D ( B’coz of the less visible sun), and the deficiency complicates and slows down our digestive system.

Consuming non-veg would be hard for the body to properly digest.

INFECTIOUS TIMES

During this time, non-veg items are very prone to water-prone diseases.

The human body is hence at risk of catching infection if they consume those food items.

SLOW TIMES

As the rain almost restricts one to step out for work or a fitness routine, it is advisable to consume a light diet so, as to not gain weight and help our bodies to easily digest.

UNDERSTANDING RELIGION

While earlier people believed blindly in religion and followed whatever was narrated as religious, today people look for reasoning, logic, and facts.

These scientific facts will help those who do not blindly follow religious aspects.
