Hot dog eating champ Joey Chestnut gobbles up new Nathan’s title

Joey Chestnut emerged as the winner of the men’s competition at the Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July Hot Dog Eating Contest, according to CBS News[1]. In a thrilling display of competitive eating, Chestnut devoured 62 hot dogs and buns in just 10 minutes. Although this fell short of his personal best of 76 hot dogs, it was enough for him to secure his 16th title at the event. The competition experienced a two-hour delay due to stormy weather, adding to the emotional roller coaster for the participants.

In the women’s competition, Miki Sudo once again claimed victory and retained her title. Sudo consumed 39.5 hot dogs and buns to secure her ninth Mustard Belt. However, this total was nine hot dogs fewer than her all-time high. Sudo admitted that she felt distracted by the performance of Mayoi Ebihara, the runner-up in the women’s competition. Despite the distraction, Sudo managed to regain her focus and correct any mistakes she made during the contest.

Both Chestnut and Sudo expressed their disappointment in not achieving higher totals this year. However, they remain determined to push their bodies to new limits in future competitions. Chestnut affirmed that despite the obstacles faced this time, he plans to make a comeback and continue competing for the Nathan’s title. Sudo, on the other hand, acknowledged the distractions she encountered during the contest and vowed not to let herself be affected by other competitors in future events.
